The Greater Hudson Valley Health System (GHVHS) is a two hospital, 600 bed system consisting of Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY, a 383-bed facility and Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY, a 218-bed facility.  We provide care to the 450,000 residents of the mid-Hudson and Catskill Regions.  Our System's Medical Group has 140+ providers in a multi-specialty, hospital based, group medical practice.  The Medical Group has been successfuly growing  and we continue to add service lines, personnel, infrastructure and facilities to complement the planned expansion of our  healthcare practice.  Most notably, the 160,000 sq. ft. Medical Office Building which opened at Orange Regional Medical Center in September of 2016 allows for a one campus option for Medical Group activities.  Also, the new Catskill Regional 11,500 sq. ft. Primary Care and Urgent Care office opened in the Town of Thompson, just outside of Monticello, NY which is near the soon to open Resorts World Catskills Casino at Adelaar – a new all-season travel and entertainment destination expected to be a major economic engine for the region.

The Hospitalist Physician is responsible for overseeing the in-patients assigned of The Greater Hudson Valley Health System Medical Group.  Hospitalists are responsible for providing direct patient clinical care and managing medical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized, adult patients.  Critical Care patient coverage with Rapid Responses and Code Blues along with an Attending MD will be required.  The Hospitalist Physician is a part of the interdisciplinary team to improve efficiency and facilitate continuum of care for patients from admission to discharge.  This continuum of care includes general adult medicine, internal medicine consults as requested, and management of patients with various comorbidities. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  The Hospitalist will carry out assigned duties displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conducts as well as acting in the best interest of the Greater Hudson Valley Health System Medical Group, supporting our mission, vision and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients.  The position is responsible for the clinical excellence of In Patient care services and for assisting in the development of programs aimed at meeting quality measures and population health management requirements.


Minimum Education:

M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.

Minimum Experience:

2 (two) years of Experience in a Hospitalist setting preferred

Required Certification/Registration:

NY State  Medical License

Active and Unrestricted D.E.A. Certificate

Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal or Family Medicine,

Updated ACLS certification required. Updated BLS certification recommended

Physical Requirements:

Stands, walks, sits intermittently throughout the day. Lifts, pushes, pulls light to heavy weights as required.


Working Conditions:

In-patient Hospital Service of Catskill Regional Medical Center.  Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching are required.
